Public Safety Officers Accident & Sickness Policy

Cook & Company Insurance Agency, Inc., has developed a program with one of the world's largest insurers to limit the costs associated with Police and Fire on the job injuries. The base policy covers medical costs, has accidental death benefits, and can have disability benefits included. This program is available as insurance for expenses which coordinate with those outlined by Mass. General Laws Chapter 41, Sections 111F and 100.

In our Public Safety Officers Accident & Sickness Policy, we:

Offer financial protection from large claims.
Through the Massachusetts High Deductible Policy, we can design a program to limit your exposure, even from catastrophic loss.

Work in tandem with Cook & Company’s Injured-on-Duty Administration.
The administration program manages claims, which may prevent exceeding the deductible or future rate increases. Using both programs together reduces the exposure to catastrophic claims. For first dollar coverage, working with Cook & Company may prevent non-certified claims from de facto acceptance as Injured-on-Duty claims.

Limit the municipality’s liability.
Under present law, the Police and Fire chiefs have the final word on whether a municipal employee should be considered out of work and covered by Section 111F. By utilizing the Cook & Company Insurance Agency program, the Chiefs receive assistance in making these decisions. Cook & Company Insurance Agency acts as a liaison between management and injured employees.

The Injured-on-Duty Program of Cook & Company Insurance Agency will enable a municipality to limit its exposure to catastrophic claims and protect its budget.
